Q. What is Xanax?
A: Xanax is a type of Benzodiazepines, comprised in the Central Nervous System seductive class of drugs, meant to cure GAD (generalized anxiety disorder), panic attacks with or without Agoraphobia and insomnia related to depression and phobia.
Q. How fast can Xanax give the patient the feeling of alleviation?
A: Xanax can give the feeling of alleviation to an adult within 1 or 2 hours after the consumption of the first dose.
Q. Can Xanax be taken during pregnancy, breast feeding or nursing?
A: Alprazolam is FDA category D, which means the unborn child, will be affected by it. It is important to let your doctor know if you are pregnant or planning to have a baby or become pregnant during Xanax medication as it may lead to some harmful consequences you would not want to meet. It is not proven if Alprazolam passes through breast milk; however, the mother of a newly born baby that has been breast-feeding lately should consult her doctor before taking Xanax. These decisions are not to be made at home on your own. Nursing should not be undertaken while under Xanax medication, as the one who is nursing sometimes may feel soporific due to the effect Xanax provides.
Q. Is there any age restriction for Xanax medication?
A: Certainly there is. Xanax medication is not recommended to teenagers under 18 years of age. Doctors also recommend a smaller dose to the patients that are above 65 years old in order to avoid ataxia (Tottering, lack of coordination and shakiness due to brain failure) and influence of seductive drugs.
Q. Can Xanax affect my daily life?
A: It will not mess with your daily schedule once you are arranged with the Xanax medication. It should take at least a few days for the body to accept it and to experience how you are reacting to the actual drug. It is strictly not recommended to be driving and operating risky machineries. Once you get used to the effect the drug is giving you can follow your usual daily routine.
Q. If I stop consuming Xanax, or increase my dosage, will it be bad for my health?
A: Of course! You should not decrease or increase the dosage of Xanax without consulting your doctor as real interruption symptom may evaluate. Mental and physical dependence on Xanax are on the list of probable consequences if the drug is taken without doctor’s advice.
Q. What is the difference between Xanax and Xanax XR?
A: Xanax is recommended to be consumed once or twice a day and Xanax XR is to be consumed only once per day. That is why Xanax XR is called the extended release tablet.
Q. Is Xanax helpful in insomnia?
A: Yes. Xanax is helpful in depression, anxiety and panic related disturbance in sleep. Insomnia is not a threat to those who use Xanax.
Q. Can I take Xanax with food?
A: Xanax can be taken with or without food. Consume Xanax exactly as prescribed by the doctor and it will serve you well.
